Frequently Asked Questions

How do I upload a plan?

From your dashboard, create a new project and drop your architectural plan PDF into the uploader (or click to browse). Planofy reads the plan and generates a draft line-item estimate — usually within a few minutes, depending on page count.

What files are supported, and is there a size limit?

Planofy accepts PDF plan sets up to 24 MB per file. If your plan set is larger, try exporting it at a lower resolution or splitting it into smaller sets.

Where do the prices in my estimate come from?

Planofy generates line items with suggested prices based on the scope it reads from your plans, organized by pricing tier and source. They are starting points calibrated for residential work — not quotes from your suppliers. Always adjust prices to match your market, your subs, and your margins before sending.

How do I edit prices and quantities?

Double-click any line item in the estimate editor to edit its price, quantity, or description inline. Totals recalculate automatically as you make changes.

Are AI-generated estimates accurate enough to send as-is?

No — treat them as drafts. The AI can misread plans or suggest prices that do not fit your market. You are responsible for reviewing and confirming every price, quantity, and scope item before sending an estimate to a client. See our Terms of Service for details.

How do I send an estimate to my client?

Once you have reviewed every line, click Send on the estimate. Your client receives an email with a secure link where they can review the estimate and sign electronically — no account needed on their side.

Are e-signatures on estimates legally binding?

Planofy signatures comply with the U.S. ESIGN Act and UETA. Signers consent explicitly before signing, and each signature is recorded with a timestamped audit trail. After signing, both you and your client receive the signed PDF by email.

How does the free trial work?

The trial gives you 7 days or 3 estimates, whichever comes first — no card required. After that, pick a plan: Starter ($39/mo), Pro ($99/mo), or Business ($249/mo), each with a discounted annual option.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Go to Settings → Billing and open the Stripe billing portal. From there you can switch plans, update your payment method, or cancel. Cancelling stops auto-renewal — you keep access until the end of your billing period.

What happens to my data if I close my account?

Email us at hello@planofy.app and we will delete your account, uploaded plans, and estimate data. Signed estimates may be retained in anonymized form for audit purposes — details in our Privacy Policy.

My client says they never received the estimate email.

Ask them to check their spam folder first. If the email is still missing, you can resend the estimate from the estimate page to generate a fresh link. Still stuck? Email us and we can verify delivery on our side.

My plan upload failed or got stuck processing.

Check that the file is a PDF under 24 MB. Very large or image-heavy plan sets take longer to process — the page count shown before processing gives you an idea of what to expect. If a plan stays stuck, email us with the project name and we will take a look.
